NIGEL's LATEST NEWS - Youth & Family

God so loved the world he gave his only son ...

We so loved our Year 6 children; we gave up our entire weekend, got soaked (several times), endured 65 mile an hour winds and nearly lost a 100 foot marquee .... And had a fab time!!!

Having just come back from a really successful camp for the Beacon & Littleham children, I have to say that the weather was at worst awful, at best superb, the views were stunning, the children were absolutely fantastically behaved and took the elements in their stride, and the whole thing was amazing! Father Ian commented in his closing prayer at the Sunday service witnessing the awesome power of God's extreme weather and of God' love was shown through our children. The whole theme of the weekend was love, God's love for us all; it really was so evident in everything said and done.
I would like to thank John Elms, Howard Govier, Sarah Wood, Joy Jelfs and Robin Hiney who helped me brave the elements through the nights to make sure our children were safe and comfortable. Joy gets a double thank you for running the catering operation so efficiency with her team, which delivered all the food on time and with a smile!! I would also like to thank everybody else who made appearances either in the background, or as helpers, including my daughter Charlotte, who was the official photographer, & Jill Govier for the musical accompaniment. Also thank you everybody for your Prayers, boy did we need them!!
Having spent this year in both of the schools building relationships with the children, one of the main aims was to let our Year 6 children get to know the ICE team who will be at the Community college when they arrive in September. It can be a daunting place, with over 2400 children, and having come from Church schools, deeply embedded in Christian values, we felt it was important to think about the transitional period. The vision of the camp was to have the ICE team there helping throughout the weekend and deliver their trademark activity in "ig Trouble" Our children really engaged with all the team and big thanks go to the whole ICE team for all they did and to John Prockter for his involvement on the Friday, and for allowing his team to help us make the event very special.

Finally I would like to thank my Team Rector Father Ian, and my Team Vicar Father Bill, whose encouragement, support, advise and prayers since last September, when the planning started, have helped me in bringing together something that not only worked on a practical level, but more importantly a spiritual one. THANK YOU!!

Please continue to hold all our work in your prayers,
